Up to 10% of dogs and an even higher percentage of cats will suffer from chronic kidney disease at some point in their lives. The kidneys play a vital role in removing waste products from the blood stream and maintain the water content and pressure. Kidney disease is an irreversible, long term deterioration in the kidneys ability to do these tasks.

The best way to prevent and manage kidney disease is with nutrition, and particularly a raw, moist meat diet full of quality digestible proteins, vitamins, minerals and trace elements, which reduces the stress on kidneys. Traditionally, vets have recommended high carb, low protein prescription kibbles for managing kidney disease but that is beginning to change as the benefits of quality proteins and moist food are realised.
